LIBERTY HEMORRHOID CENTER
How Do We Treat Hemorrhoids?
Whether your symptoms are related to hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal warts, rectal abscess, or cancer, we at the Liberty Hemorrhoid Center understand how embarrassing and uncomfortable it is to talk about these issues. We take your hemorrhoid and gastrointestinal problems seriously, listen carefully, and treat you with the utmost respect in a caring, safe, and confidential manner.
Home remedies/Topical creams
Hemorrhoid symptom relief can often be achieved with over-the-counter topical creams, warm baths, and adding more fiber and fluid to your diet.
Sometimes hemorrhoid symptoms are beyond the help of home remedies and require proper diagnosis and treatment by a colon and rectal specialist. What if it’s not really hemorrhoids? What if it’s something else? Are you willing to take a chance?
Since there are so many treatment methods available, our specialists at Liberty Hemorrhoid Center can offer you individualized treatment that best suits you based on years of experience. Some of these methods include:
Rubber band ligation
With the rubber band ligation method (or CRH O’Regan), a small band is attached to the base of the hemorrhoid, cutting off circulation allowing the hemorrhoidal tissue to fall off in a few days. There is little to no discomfort associated with this method and if multiple hemorrhoids are present, the process can be usually repeated every three weeks or so until relief is achieved. This treatment is superior to others because it is quick, highly effective, relatively pain free, requires no preparation, and can often be offered during your initial consultation visit.
Surgical and other invasive procedures
For more severe cases, we offer other surgical options including PPH stapled hemorrhoidopexy (watch video here), THD Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (watch video here), a minimally invasive procedure that uses doppler ultrasound waves to locate the terminating branches of the hemorrhoidal arteries, and surgical removal of hemorrhoids or hemorrhoidectomy (watch video here) . We do not recommend sclerotherapy or laser removal of hemorrhoids because of lack of advantage over other methods, potential increased complication risk, and increased cost.
To know which treatment is right for you, it is best to schedule an appointment and have a proper examination. If you still have questions related to hemorrhoids, please check out our Hemorrhoid FAQ page for more information, then call us to schedule an appointment!
